Washington University in St. Louis announced Tuesday it will acquire the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and its campus from the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, expanding WashU’s health sciences programs. The pharmacy school will become WashU’s 10th academic school, pending regulatory approval over the next 12 to 18 months.
The transition is expected to take effect after the 2026-27 academic year. WashU plans to integrate the pharmacy program and some undergraduate offerings into its existing academic structure while continuing operations during the transition.
Other programs at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, including those in its arts and sciences, global population health and graduate studies colleges, will be phased out after the 2026-27 school year. Officials from both institutions said the move is designed to strengthen pharmacy education in St. Louis and expand collaboration across medicine, public health and life sciences.
