The United States women’s hockey team is back on top.
Defenseman Megan Keller scored 4:07 into 3-on-3 overtime to lift the U.S. past Canada, 2-1, in the gold medal game at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The overtime winner capped a comeback fueled by captain Hilary Knight, who tied the game with 2:04 left in regulation after deflecting a shot from Laila Edwards with the goalie pulled. The goal was Knight’s 15th of her Olympic career, setting the U.S. record for goals and points and forcing overtime in what she has said will be her final Games.
Canada opened the scoring early in the second period on a short-handed goal by Kristen O’Neill and held the lead deep into the third. U.S. goalie Aerin Frankel kept the Americans within striking distance, finishing with 30 saves as the U.S. allowed just two goals across the entire tournament.
Keller’s winner sealed an undefeated Olympic run for Team USA and delivered its first women’s hockey gold medal without a loss since 1998, once again at Canada’s expense.
