St. Louis added a new MVP to its list this weekend, as rescue pup Boba earned top honors at Puppy Bowl XXII.

Boba, an Australian Shepherd mix from the Humane Society of Missouri, was named the Most Valuable Pup after a standout performance in Puppy Bowl XXII. The annual event aired Sunday and featured a record 150 rescue dogs from shelters across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Boba played for Team Fluff and made an immediate impact, scoring the first touchdown of the game and finishing with three total scores. Team Fluff beat out Team Ruff in a dramatic 73-69 win to claim the Lombarky Trophy.

Boba wasnโ€™t the only local star on the field. Fellow St. Louis pups Cheesecake and Paris also suited up for Team Fluff, giving the Humane Society of Missouri plenty of reason to cheer.

The Puppy Bowl has become the longest-running call-to-adoption event on television, shining a spotlight on shelter animals in need of homes. For Boba, the story already has a happy ending, as the MVP is now thriving in her forever home.
