A new kind of playground is coming to St. Louis.

Lava Island, a tropical-themed indoor adventure park packed with slides, trampolines, and massive jungle gyms, is set to open its newest location in Rock Hill this summer. The company is aiming for an August debut at 9610 Manchester Road, just down the road from downtown Webster.

Originally based in Colorado, Lava Island brands itself as the “ultimate indoor playground", and they’re backing that up with features like a three-story jungle gym, volcano slide, foam pits, Jump Tower, tricycle track and even a dedicated toddler zone. There’s also a handful of themed party rooms built for birthday celebrations and group events.

While it’s clearly designed to be a kid’s dream, Lava Island is leaning into all ages. The spot is meant to be a space for families to connect, play and burn some energy. There is also food with a menu including burgers, wings, pizza, milkshakes and smoothies, so parents can refuel while the kids run wild. The space is designed to feel like “a play oasis” for families.

Before the doors officially open, Lava Island still needs to wrap up inspections and lock in a business license, but the plan is to be up and running by late summer.

Rock Hill will be the company’s fourth location, joining others in Colorado and Montana, with more on the way in places like Arizona, Connecticut and Minnesota.
